Mapl

Description

According to the Library and Archives Canada website, the MAPL logo was created by Stan Klees in 1970 to be used on phonograph recordings to define Canadian content
(Cancon) sometimes referred to as the MAPL System.

,

M - music written by a Canadian,
A - artist(s) are Canadian,
P - record was produced in Canada.
L - lyrics written by a Canadian

,

The MAPL logo became the standard for identifying Cancon.

,

Klees says he chose this design because it could be reduced to any size and could be used easily on record labels and CD graphics to identify songs that qualified.
