House of Piast. Piast Kołodziej (Piast the Wheelwright) was the legendary founder of the Piast dynasty. About 1295 one of the descendants of the royal family - Duke of Poznan Przemyslaw II used for arms a white eagle – a symbol later referred to as the Piast coat of arms or as the Piast Eagle.
