,RAABSTRACT LLC. is a multi-faceted “one-stop shop” company offering print, graphic design, branding, art direction, promotion and more. The company is located in the heart of one of Savannah’s most art-centered neighborhoods, the Starland District. The company was started in 2002 by Rachel Miriam Raab.
,Born in Montreal, Canada, and relocating to Florida during her childhood, Raab developed a strong interest in the arts during high school, focusing primarily in Photography. She obtained a degree in Photographic Technology from Daytona Beach College in 2006. From there she went on to The Savannah College of Art and Design, in Savannah, Georgia graduating in 2009 with a B.F.A in both Photography and Graphic Design.
,Raab’s photography has gained some notable recognition, having had over a dozen group and solo exhibits, including the Southwest Photography Museum in Florida. Most notably, in 2004 she earned the Merit Award from Photo District News (PDN).
,Originally intended to serve as an identity for Raab’s photo work, in 2002 she started RAABSTRACT LLC. Over time this evolved into the multi-service company that it is today. In the process, Raab has managed to establish herself firmly in Savannah’s art community, offering not only graphic design, print and decal services, but she has also become a well-known event planner and promoter. Amongst her most notable events are the Desoto Strut held in the Starland District, a free monthly block party offering live music, open studios, and artwork from local artists, as well as varied performances such as hoola-hoopers, breakdancers and fire performers. In 2009 she was also responsible for TASTE, a multi-medium, art and music event- the largest of its kind ever held in Savannah.
,In addition to event planning, Raab also manages Studio 2 Ten, a 5,000 square foot studio and gallery space also located in Savannah’s Starland District. The building houses local artists and musicians, as well as serving as a venue for exhibitions and music events. If that were not enough, she is also the editor of Artport, a free quarterly zine showcasing local artists.
