Queensland Motorways is delivering the Gateway Upgrade Project on behalf of the Queensland Government, with design and construction by the Leighton Abigroup Joint Venture (LAJV).

The project totals 20km and involves:

Second Gateway Bridge
Construction of a second Gateway Bridge, including a dedicated pedestrian and cycle way with viewing platforms.

North of the Brisbane River
New 7km section of Gateway Motorway, offering a more direct route to Brisbane airport and Nudgee Road.

South of the Brisbane River
12km upgrade to the Gateway Motorway between Lytton Road and Mt Gravatt-Capalaba Road.

Tolling and ITS
Free-flow electronic tolling and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) for "a motorway that thinks".

The project will deliver many benefits to Queensland, including:

Safer, quicker and easier travel along the Gateway Bridge and Motorway and reduced travel times.
Pedestrian and cycle access on the Gateway Bridge.
Better connections for business, industry and tourism including easier travel between the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast and improved access to Brisbane Airport and the Australia TradeCoast precinct.
